South Florida Choral Music Tradition

Celebrating 48 Years!

Florida Singing Sons has been delighting South Florida audiences since it was founded in Fort Lauderdale in 1975. Thousands of boys in Broward County have had the experience of being a Singing Son, some for ten years. Members of Florida Singing Sons dedicate themselves to a rigorous program that results in university-level musicianship skills, understanding of vocal pedagogy and choral techniques, and life-changing personal growth and development. Florida Singing Sons is an avid proponent of strengthening music education in South Florida, and has a vested interest in cultivating arts-aware youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.

The Singing Sons perform a wide variety of choral literature. From ancient sacred chants to Broadway favorites to rock anthems, a typical year of concerts includes sacred and secular choral classics as well as selections from folk music and musical theater. Members of the choir have appeared with Miami Bach Society, Florida Grand Opera, Master Chorale of South Florida, New World Symphony, Nova Singers, and the Symphony of the Americas. The boy choir also participates in community outreach concerts, performances for local and national conventions, weddings, and educational outreach programs.

Florida Singing Sons carries on the long-lasting tradition of participating in festivals, and members of the Concert Choir and Second Generation Singers tour annually, alternating domestic and international tours. Last Summer members visited Europe, singing in Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg. This Summer the choir will tour across Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. Other recent trips include a performance tour of the Northeastern US (including the Summer Solstice concert at St John the Divine in New York City), Spain, the United Kingdom, and France.
