Tuition Assistance

We believe that every young singer should have the opportunity to experience the musical, personal, and community benefits of Florida Singing Sons. Need-based tuition assistance is available to help make participation accessible to families who may need financial support.

Families requesting assistance should indicate their interest and complete the tuition assistance application as part of the registration process. The application includes a copy of the parent or legal guardian’s most recent federal income tax return (IRS Form 1040) and a brief statement explaining the need for assistance.

Applications are reviewed on a confidential basis, and families will be notified of their award before the start of the season whenever possible.

Uniforms

All FSS ensembles have a concert uniform requirement for formal performances. FSS provides the primary components of the performance uniform, including blazers for boys and long black dresses for girls.

Families may be responsible for providing additional uniform pieces, such as dress shirts, pants, shoes, or other required accessories, depending on the ensemble and performance. FSS maintains a limited supply of donated uniform pieces and will do our best to provide low-cost options or assistance to families whenever possible.

Tour & Travel

Summer tours and travel opportunities are an exciting part of the Florida Singing Sons experience. Concert Choir, Second Generation Singers, and Chorale Soleil are eligible to participate in FSS summer tours, which alternate between domestic and international destinations.

Tour participation is optional and is not required for membership. However, touring is one of the most memorable experiences in our program, giving choristers the opportunity to perform in new places, experience different cultures, develop independence, and strengthen their relationships with fellow singers.

Tour costs vary depending on the destination, length of the trip, and other travel expenses. In recent years, tour costs have typically ranged from $2,000–$4,000. Fundraising opportunities may be available to help families offset a portion of these costs, and specific information will be provided as tour plans are developed.

Commitment & Attendance

Participation in Florida Singing Sons is a commitment to your chorister, their ensemble, and their fellow singers. We ask families to plan for a full-year commitment, or at minimum a full semester, in order to fully benefit from the experience.

Consistent attendance is an important part of the FSS experience. Each rehearsal builds on the previous one, and every singer contributes to the sound and success of the ensemble. Families should make every effort to attend regularly and communicate in advance about any unavoidable absences.

Special rehearsals, performances, and collaborative opportunities may occasionally fall outside of the regular weekly schedule. These dates will be announced as far in advance as possible so families can plan accordingly.
